Two more die of dengue, one of A(H1N1)
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Fever killed three persons in Bangalore on Friday. While dengue accounted for two deaths, Influenza A(H1N1) claimed one more life in the city.
A 55-year-old man from Vijayanagar in Bangalore became the second reported victim of the influenza A (H1N1) virus in the State on Friday morning.
The victim, who was identified as Shivanna, was admitted to the Wockhardt, Rajajinagar, on August 12 and his condition deteriorated rapidly, said Lloyd Nazareth, CEO of the Wockhardt.
The patient had diabetes and cardiac problems, Dr. Nazareth said and added that abundant safety precautions had been taken to safeguard the hospital staff as well as the victim’s family.
Degnue claimed two lives: Abhishek (8) who died at St Philomena’s Hospital on Thursday, and Sohan Ganesh (11) who died at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health.
While Abhishek was a resident of Bhuvaneshwari Road in K.P. Agrahara, Sohan lived in Chandra Layout. The city had seen at least three dengue deaths in the last one week.
BBMP stand
Although city hospitals are getting patients with suspected dengue symptoms almost every day and though the viral disease has been claiming lives, a fact that has been confirmed by the hospital authorities, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials continue to deny there is an outbreak of the epidemic.
