MANGALORE: Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP), its youth wing Bajrang Dal, and its women’s wing Durga Vahini took out a procession and held a public meeting here on Friday evening to mark the “Akhand Bharat Sankalpa” day. The Akhanda Bharath Sankalpa day is observed by various sangh parivar organisations to revive the calls for an undivided Hindu nation that includes the present-day Pakistan and Bangladesh. VHP chief M.B. Puranik said: “The dream of Akhand Bharath will definitely be realised one day. If not today, surely in the next hundred years.” Envisioning what this new nation would be like, he said: “Muslims, Christians, and the people of all faiths will be allowed to live in harmony. But they should abide by the majority sentiment.” People with different faiths should bury their differences and become part of a pan-national identity that was derived from “Sanatana Dharma”.
