Boy falls into open sump, dies Crime notes

Bangalore: A five-year-old boy drowned in an open sump at his house off Old Post Office Road at Kadugodi here on Thursday. The boy Sharath Singh was the son of Prathap Singh, a welder. He was playing at the veranda around 3.45 p.m. when he accidentally fell into the sump and died, the police said.

Murdered

A livestock dealer and a recovery agent were murdered in separate incidents reported on Thursday.

T. Ramaiah (80), who was dealing in livestock, was found dead with stab injuries. The victim was a resident of Kithaganahalli. In another incident, Rama alias Ramesh (19), a recovery agent for a private bank, succumbed to stab injuries in hospital near Peenya. The police said some persons allegedly attacked him near T. Dasarahalli and fled from the spot. The profusely bleeding Rama was shifted to the hospital where he died.

Destroyed

Scrap material worth thousand of rupees and bamboo were gutted in a fire, which broke out in two shops, near Kalasipalya early on Friday.

Short-circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire at Bamboo Bazaar around 2 a.m.
