Bhullar emerges as the sole leader

BANGALORE: Gaganjeet Bhullar produced another day of consistent golf to steal a march over the field and emerge as the sole leader in the PGTI Players Championship at the Eagleton-The Golf Resort in Bidadi near here, on Friday.

Bhullar carded a 69 for the third day to add to his 68 and 68 in the two previous rounds for a ten under 206 score.

Bhullar all through the three days has had spectacular start and today was no different with a birdie on the first hole. Three more in the subsequent fifth, seventh and eighth holes and Bhullar had a four under 32 for the up nine and despite a poor return round enjoys a two-stroke lead over second placed Raju Ali Moolah, the joint leader on Thursday.

Raju Ali Mollah (70, 67, 71) could provide Bhullar a tough challenge on the final day as he is just two strokes behind the leader at the moment.

Raju began poorly, making bogeys on the first two holes. He then sank a birdie putt from 15 feet on the third to get his confidence going.

An excellent nine iron second shot on the fifth earned him another birdie.

A bogey followed on the sixth when he found the greenside bunker. The 31-year-old picked up two more strokes with birdies on the seventh and 10th.

Ali Sher (66, 72, 71) and Anura Rohana (67, 71, 71) are tied third at seven under 209. The scores: 1.Gaganjeet Bhullar (68,69,69) 206; 2.Raju Ali Mollah(70,67,71) 208; 3.Ali Sher(66,72,71),Anura Rohana(67,71,71) 209; 5.Vikrant Chopra(72,71,68), Vinod Kumar(67,72,72) 211.
