KOLLAM: N.K. Premachandran, Minister for Water Resources, has said that negative journalism will weaken democracy. He was delivering the R. Krishnaswamy commemoration address at a function here on Thursday after giving away this year’s R. Krishnaswamy Journalism Award to the sub-editor of Madhyamam, G. Prajesh Sen. Mr. Premachandran called for positive journalism with direct accountability to the society. He said that positive journalism will serve to boost democracy. The late Krishnaswamy was a person who had made valuable contributions to the development of Kollam. This is the reason why even after twenty-eight years after his death he still lives in the minds of the people, Mr. Premachandran said.
