KOZHIKODE: The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow has conferred its fellowship (FRCP) on M. Dr. Mathew was instrumental in starting the first full-fledged dialysis and kidney transplant centre in the State at the Kozhikode medical college three decades ago. Dr. Mathew is credited with having described a new sign that indicated kidney failure. Known as the ‘Tongue Sign’ of uraemia’ (kidney failure), it is now accepted all over the world.
