Cashier held for cheating

CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Wednesday arrested a cashier of Amrutanjan Health Care Ltd. on charges of misappropriating funds to the tune of Rs. 1.25 crore.

According to a press release, Viswanathan, General Manager of Amrutanjan Health Care Ltd. lodged a complaint with Commissioner of Police T. Rajendran that cashier Subramaniam had swindled Rs. 1.25 crore by not crediting funds collected from dealers in the company’s account. A special team of the CCB led by Inspector D. Umapathy arrested Subramaniam residing at West Mogappair. Investigation revealed that the accused was working in the company for about 16 years. His modus operandi was to collect money instead of cheque from dealers and not account the same in official records. He was produced in a city court and remanded to judicial custody, the release said.
