135 child labourers in 7 villages: study

Tiruvannamalai: A study conducted by a non-governmental organisation called Rural Self Employment and Educational Development Society (RSEEDS) in seven villages in Tiruvannamalai taluk shows thast as many as 135 children from these villages have been trafficked to Bangalore, Chennai and other cities, where they work as domestic help to support their families back home.
This was revealed at ‘District Level Consultation on Child Domestic Labours’ organised by RSEEDS recently. All the 135 children are girls earning Rs.1,000-2,000 monthly.
