Kadapa writer bags ‘Puraskar’

Vempalle’s book ‘Molakala Punnami’ reflects lifestyles of Rayalaseema

KADAPA: Vempalle Gangadhar, writer of Kadapa, received the State-level ‘Visala Sahithi Katha Puraskar’ from Gnanpeeth awardee C. Narayana Reddy at the Potti Sreeramulu University Senate hall in Hyderabad on Sunday night.

Local dialect

Mr. Gangadhar’s work ‘Molakala Punnami’ presented in the local dialect, reflects the varying lifestyles of Rayalaseema region and deals with social problems, observed prominent speakers including Dr. Narayana Reddy, former vice-chancellor Kolakaluri Inoch, Kathi Padma Rao, Guduri Seetharam, S.V. Satyanarayana, Cheekolu Sundaraiah, Mudiganti Sujatha Reddy, K. Lakshminarayana and Saleem. The award was presented on the occasion of the ‘shashtipoorthi’ celebrations of B.S. Ramulu of Viswa Sahithi.
