Minar tests positive

PRAGUE: Czech tennis player Ivo Minar has tested positive for a banned substance.

The Czech Tennis Association president Ivo Kaderka told a news agency that the case was being investigated by the ITF. No other details were immediately available.

The 63rd-ranked player Minar has pulled out of the upcoming U.S. Open citing an injury. Minar was part of the Czech Davis Cup squad that beat Argentina in July’s quarterfinal tie, losing the only match he played to Juan Martin del Potro. — AP
