THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A hat-trick by medium pacer Prince Joseph (five for 40) wrecked Thiruvananthapuram’s innings on the opening day of the South Zone under-22 inter-district cricket tournament at the Agriculture College ground on Monday. Prince took four wickets in an over as the host was bundled out for 120 runs. The scores: Thiruvananthapuram 120 in 32.3 overs (M.Jijin 59, Prince Joseph five for 40) v Kottayam 98 for three in 31 overs (Printu Prakash 41 n.o.). Alappuzha 271 for seven in 70 overs (Justin Oscar 107, Balu Baiju 46, B.Akhil 42) v Kollam 110 in 20 overs (Rahul Dev 63). Sunday’s fixture: Thiruvananthapuram 249 & 185 for five in 29 overs (Sajan Salim 78, Vishnu Sundar three for 22) drew with Alappuzha 164 in 48.2 overs (B.Akhil 52, Likhil Francis three for 53) & 26 for no loss in eight overs. Kollam 188 for nine & 26 for two in nine overs drew with Pathanamthita 162 in 59.3 overs (Abdul Basit four for 29).
