S. Satyanarayana calls on YSR at his residence

Ex-TDP leader contested as independent

HYDERABAD: Mr. Somarapu Satyanarayana, independent MLA from Ramagundam in Karimnagar district, formally joined the Congress along with his supporters here on Monday.

He called on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at his residence along with former MLA, Ms. Sridevi, who had recently defected from the TDP to the Praja Rajyam, and announced his decision.

Mr. Satyanarayana was elected as Ramagundam municipal chairman on Congress party ticket and later joined the TDP. He contested against the Congress candidate D. Sridhar Babu from Manthani in 2004 elections and lost.

In the 2009 elections, he expected TDP ticket from Manthani and Ramagundam Assembly segments, but could not get it.

He contested as independent candidate from Ramagundam Assembly segment and won against his nearest Praja Rajyam party candidate Kaushik Hari.
