Development works reviewed

KUMBAKONAM: The Union Minister of State for Finance S. S. Palani Manickam and state Co-Operation Minister Ko. Si. Mani on Saturday reviewed the progress of various development works in three Municipalities and 14 panchayat unions in Thanjavur district at Kumbakonam on Saturday.
Expressing concern over the delay in starting of underground drainage works at Pattukottai, they asked the officials to expedite the work. They also said that gasifier crematorium have been sanctioned for the three Municipalities ie Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Pattukottai. These Municipalities should expedite the work and put the gasified crematorium to use soon. Emphasis should be given to completion of road works and drinking water supply schemes in panchayat unions. Stating that a Periyar samathuvapuram is coming up at Thoppuviduthki in Thiruvonam block, they asked the officials to complete the work quickly.
Thamizhazhagan, Chairman of Kumbakonam Municipality, Priya Ilangovan, Chairperson, Pattukottai Municipality, S.Ramalingam, Chairman, Thiruvidaimaruthur panchayat union participated in the meeting.
