Fervour marks Chathurthi festival at Pillaiyarpatti

Temple authorities offered a huge ‘mukkuruni kozhukattai’

SIVAGANGA: Hundreds of devotees on Sunday thronged Sri Karpaga Vinayaka temple at Pillaiyarpatti near here for Vinayaka Chathurthi festival.

Chathurthi festival began on August 14 in the temple. The car festival was held on Saturday.

The main idol of Ganesh was decorated with sandal in the morning. The ‘urchavar’, which was decorated with ‘thanga mooshika vahana,’ was taken to the temple pond, where ‘theerthavari’ was performed. Later, the ‘urchavar’ reached the temple through a procession.

The temple authorities offered a huge ‘mukkuruni kozhukattai’ made up of 18 cup of raw rice to Lord Ganesh when he adorned gold plated attire.

Trustees PL. Chidambaram, M. Kumarappan and Pitchai Gurukkal took part.
