Traffic diversion for Vinayakar procession

TIRUCHI: The police has announced traffic diversion in the city on Tuesday in connection with the Vinayakar Chathurthi procession.

Buses coming from Chennai, Salem and Namakkal routes towards Tiruchi Central bus stand would be diverted at Samayapuram Tollgate and the vehicles would pass through By Pass Road, Palpannai Roundabout, G. Corner, Wireless Road, K. K. Nagar, Mannarpuram, Viralimalai Road Junction, Zonal Point and Aristo Roundabout to reach Central bus stand.

In the return direction, the buses would proceed via Williams Road, Head Post Office Junction, TVS Tollgate, Palpannai Roundabout, Chennai By Pass Road, Cauvery and Coleroon bridges towards Chennai, Salem and Namakkal.

Buses coming from Thuraiyur, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Cuddalore routes towards Chathiram bus stand would be diverted at Tollgate and pass via By Pass Road, Palpannai Roundabout, TVS Tollgate, Head Post Office Junction, MGR Statue, Puthur Four Road Junction, Woraiyur Road, Salai Road, Kohinoor Theatre Junction, Karur By Pass Road to reach Chathiram bus stand.

In return direction

In the return direction, the buses will proceed via Karur By Pass Road, Kohinoor Theatre Junction, Sastri Road, Uzhavar Sandhai, MGR Statue, Head Post Office Junction, TVS Tollgate, Palpannai roundabout, Chennai By Pass Road, Cauvery and Coleroon bridges towards Thuraiyur, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Cuddalore.

Suburban buses coming from Lalgudi, Samayapuram, Mannachanallur and Vathalai routes towards Chathiram bus stand will be temporarily stopped at Mambazha Salai Junction and return via Amma Mandapam, Srirangam Gandhi Road, and Tiruvanaikoil Trunk Road.

Heavy vehicles coming from Madurai, Pudukottai and Thanjavur routes will be diverted from Palpannai roundabout and proceed via Chennai By Pass Road, Cauvery and Coleroon bridges, Tollgate, Musiri, Kulithalai to reach Karur.

Heavy vehicles coming from Coimbatore and Karur routes towards towards Thanjavur and Pudukottai will pass through Kulithalai Cauvery bridge, Musiri, Tollgate, Coleroon new bridge, Cauvery bridge, Chennai Pass Road, Palpannai roundabout to go to Thanjavur.

City buses from Chathram bus stand to Srirangam will be diverted via Main Guard gate, West Bouleward Road, Thanjavur Road, Palpannai roundabout, Chennai By Pass Road, Cauvery bridge, K.K. Salai, Tiruvanaikoil Trunk Road and Gandhi Road to reach Srirangam.

City buses from Srirangam to Chathram bus stand will pass through Amma Mandapam Road, Mambalasalai Junction, Periyar Nagar railway bridge, K.K. Salai, Cauvery new bridge, Chennai By Pass Road, Palpannai Roundabout, TVS Tollgate, Head Post Office Junction, MGR Statue, Puthur Four Road, Thennur High Road, Thillai Nagar main road, 11th cross street, Sastri Road, Kohinoor Theatre junction, Maris Bridge and Main Guard Gate to reach Chathram bus stand.

City buses from Tiruverambur to Chathram bus stand will proceed via Palpannai roundabout, Senthaneerpuram, TVS Tollgate, Head Post Office Junction, MGR statue, Puthur Four Road Junction, Thennur High Road, Thillai Nagar main road, 11th Cross street, Sastri Road, Kohinoor Theatre Junction, Maris Bridge and Main Guard gate to reach Chathram bus stand.

In the return direction, the buses will go through Main Guard gate, Maris bridge, Kohinoor Theatre Junction, Sastri Road, Uzhavar Sandhai, MGR Statue, Head Post Office Junction, TVS Tollgate and Palpannai roundabout.

Security for procession

Commissioner of Police Karuna Sagar said over 1,000 police personnel would be utilised for bandobust duty for the procession on Tuesday. In addition to city police strength, two companies of Tamil Nadu Special Police personnel and one unit each from the Central Zone, Home Guards and Traffic Wardens would be deployed.
