KANNUR: The Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists will organise a national continuing education programme in clinical psychology to update skills required to respond to issues concerning mental health and well-being of schoolchildren. The objectives of the programme scheduled to be held here on October 2 and 3 in association with the Manasasthra Vedi include development of a broader perspective and understanding of mental health issues typically occurring in the school setting and clarification of the role and functioning of psychologists working with schools, organising secretary E.D. Joseph said in a press release. Mr. Joseph said that psychologists working with schools in consultative capacities were dealing with a host of societal and child-related issues, he said adding that psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, learning and attention disorders were on the rise among children and adolescents. Those wanting to participate in the programme could contact the organising secretary (mobile: 9847124794; email: edjkannur@hotmail.com).
