All-round show by Sachin Baby

KOCHI: Idukki’s Sachin Baby stole the show with a fine all-round performance against Ernakulam in the Central Zone under-22 inter-district cricket championship at the BPCL Kochi Refinery Ground, Ambalamugal, on Thursday.

Off-spinner Sachin first took seven wickets for 66 runs and later hit an unbeaten 62.

In the other match, Thrissur, riding on P.M. Vishnu’s 74 and Anthaf’s four-wicket haul, took the first innings lead against Palakkad at the Tripunithura Palace Oval.

The scores: Ernakulam 222 in 68.1 overs (Zanal Nazar 51, Gineesh 43, Rajilal 41, Sachin Baby seven for 66) v Idukki 116 for five in 35.5 overs (Sachin Baby 62 n.o., Ajay Jayakumar three for 16).

Thrissur 142 in 52.3 overs (P.M. Vishnu 74, Surjith three for 50) and 23 for one in 7 overs v Palakkad 124 in 27.5 overs (Krishnakumar 35, Anthaf four for 51, Kannan three for 53, Jibinlal three for 12). — Principal Correspondent
