Zainab triumphs

HYDERABAD: Fifteen-year-old Zainab Ali Sajjad of India picked her maiden girls singles title abroad when she won the ITF world junior-ranking tennis tournament, defeating compatriot Parminder Kaur 7-5, 6-3, in the final in Mauritius, according to delayed information received here.

The top-seeded player, a 10th standard student of Nasr School in Hyderabad, was playing her seventh ITF event in the last one year. Zainab’s ITF ranking has improved from from 642 (at the start of the above event) to 472.
