PUDUCHERRY: Three persons including a 10-year-old girl tested positive for A (H1N1) influenza on Friday. Director of Health Dilip Kumar Baliga said samples of the three persons were sent for testing to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) on Thursday. They tested positive on Friday. One of the patients, a 32-year-old man from Anna Nagar, has been quarantined at home. He has been put on Tamiflu. His mother had earlier tested positive and was discharged after treatment. A 10-year-old girl from Ajees Nagar and 12-year-old boy from Venkata Nagar also tested positive . Dr. Baliga said that the two children were being examined at JIPMER and would be admitted if necessary. It was not necessary to admit patients who did not have severe symptoms. Doctors would decide based on the individual’s condition, he said. Officials of the Health Department are observing the family members of the patients. Students of the schools where the two children study would be screened.
