K.V. Ramanachari tours Kadapa villages

Special Correspondent

KADAPA: K.V. Ramanachari, Principal Secretary of Revenue and nodal officer for Kadapa district, said on Saturday that he would visit the district once every week and forward reports to the Government on drought conditions and the standing crops.

Mr. Ramanachari toured several villages in Vallur, Kamalapuram and Yerraguntla mandals, along with district Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar and other officials, to assess the drought conditions.

APREGS

He inspected A.P. Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (APREGS) works in a tank in Ambavaram village in Vallur mandal. Ambavaram villagers complained that all the four drinking water borewells have dried up. A farmer Ramasubba Reddy alleged that sunflower seed was not supplied last year and wanted Sunbred, Kargil, Paturu and Bhoomi sunflower seed and 14:35:14 fertilizers supplied this year. The Collector said proposals were sent for supply of 5,000 quintals of sunflower seed and supply was expected in a fortnight. Mr. Ramanachari directed restoration of drinking water borewells within three days. He inspected a one-and-a-half acre field in Boreddigaripalle village which a farmer Raja Reddy raised fodder. Raja Reddy said 21 farmers were raising fodder in the village and sought Pasu Kranthi Pathakam loans. The Collector said 4,000 units would be grounded under the scheme and loans would be sanctioned for purchase of 5,500 milch under DRDA-IKP.

Groundnut crop

Mr. Ramanachari inspected withered groundnut crop in Basha’s field in Thippalur village. The ryots demanded 100 per cent subsidy on groundnut seed owing to scanty rainfall. The Collector asked the ryots to record their ‘adangals’ with the Tahsildar to be eligible for crop insurance.
