TIRUNELVELI: Apart from providing a sumptuous meal to the poor and orphans and distributing other welfare measures to the needy, DMDK cadres here celebrated the birthday of their ‘captain’ (party leader Vijay Kant) in an unusual fashion, by providing a hand pump to a colony. Though the local body had installed a couple of public taps in Mela Seval near Palayamkottai, the residents are getting water once in three days. On coming to know the plight of the Dalit residents, the DMDK cadres provide them with a hand-pump.
