TNPCB call to cement units

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: All cement units in the State shall substitute a minimum of five per cent of the total fuel consumed by them with hazardous waste/municipal solid waste. This is one of the resolutions passed at a recently concluded workshop on ‘co-processing of hazardous waste in cement kilns,’ organised by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. The cement industries should enter into an agreement with the local bodies to utilise the municipal solid waste including plastic waste, for co-processing.
