Madikeri: Kodagu Deputy Commissioner K.H. Ashwatha Narayana Gowda has imposed a ban on sale of liquor in Virajpet and Somwarpet town limits in view of immersion of Ganesh idols which will take place from September 2 to 4. The ban will be in force in and around 10 km radius of Virajpet town from September 2 midnight to 10 a.m. on September 4. In Somwarpet town, the ban will be in force from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on September 2, an official press release said here on Saturday. Accordingly, sale of liquor in bars, restaurants, clubs and hotels, has been banned. Traffic regulations too will come into force in Virajpet town from 7 p.m. on September 3 till 8 a.m. on the next day since a large number of people are expected to witness the grand car processions in the town preceding the immersion of Gowri and Ganesha idols.
