Launching the scheme at Silamalai in Bodinaickanur block on Friday, he said that special beneficiary identification camps would be held in all villages for 90 days, one day for two villages, continuously. Special arrangement was also made to enable NREGS farm workers register their names under this scheme. Village administrative officers would be present in each and every camp to issue necessary certificates on-the-spot to beneficiaries. Two photographs were needed to register the name. Biometric smart card would be given to each beneficiary to avail the scheme. The government would pay the insurance premium for the beneficiaries. The sum insured was Rs.1 lakh per family. They would enjoy medical facilities to cure 51 types of diseases in the departments of cardiology, oncology, nephrology, neurology, orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, vascular surgery, gastroenterology, ENT, gynaecology, thoracic medicine, haematology and plastic surgeries and other specified diseases for the next four years. The main objective of the scheme was to provide advanced medical care that was enjoyed by affluent people so far to the poor and downtrodden, he added. At Silamalai alone, 5,000 persons in 2,500 families will get advanced medical care under this scheme, he added. Mr. Muthuveeran appealed to people to utilise the scheme properly and advised officials to extend full cooperation for effective implementation of the scheme.
