LEH (JAMMU AND KASHMIR): Two Chinese helicopters violated Indian air space in recent months in the Leh area of north Jammu and Kashmir, dropping some canned food on a barren land at Chumar. The MI series helicopters were reported by residents living along the Pangong lake. Tell-tale signsThe Army Aviation Corps rushed its Cheetah and Chetak helicopters. But they could only spot the tell-tale signs left by the Chinese helicopters which hovered over the Indian territory for nearly five minutes on June 21 this year, said an Army spokesperson for the Udhampur-based Northern Command. “There was a report of a helicopter flying in the area south of Chumar, where India and China have differences in perception over the Line of Actual Control. It was reported by grazers, he said.” Reported by grazersA confidential defence document accessed by PTI shows the Chinese helicopters entered the Indian space along Damchok and Trig Heights in Ladakh and dropped canned food containing frozen pork and brinjal, of which expiry date had passed. — PTI
