Girl drowns

Special Correspondent

TAMBARAM: A two-and-half-year-old girl drowned in the Adyar at Nandambakkam. She was reported missing on Saturday noon. The body was found floating in a puddle on the riverbed on Sunday evening.

The police said Jayaraman and Selvi are construction workers residing at Ramapuram. Selvi had come to her mother’s house in M.G.R. Nagar at Nandambakkam along with her daughter Devika to take part in a temple festival.

While Selvi was preparing for the festival, Devika is reported to have stepped out of the house around noon. Realising that her daughter was missing, Selvi, her relatives and friends began a search. They registered a case at Nandambakkam police station. Around 4 p.m. on Sunday, the body was found. It was handed over after post-mortem at Tambaram Taluk Government Hospital in Chromepet.
