Sand transporters intensify stir

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: While the indefinite strike by sand transporters affiliated to the Federation of Karnataka Lorry Owners’ Association entered the 10th day, those affiliated to Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents’ Association began their indefinite strike on Monday. Both the associations have been demanding a permanent solution to the woes haunting sand transporters to Bangalore. The associations have alleged that various government agencies have been harassing sand transporters.

The demands of sand transporters include single permit for one month per truck for sand transportation and lifting of ban on sand quarrying in some areas.
