COIMBATORE: The Veterinary University Training and Research Centre, Coimbatore, of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, will organise a free on-campus training in hygienic meat production and establishment of modern retail meat outlets on September 8 and 9.

According to a release, the production includes establishment of meat processing plants with good hygienic standards, rearing of healthy food animals, transport of food animals to processing units, pre-slaughter care of food animals, ante-mortem inspection, hygienic dressing of carcasses, humane slaughter, packaging and preservation of meat, etc.

This is to prevent slaughter of animals by unskilled butchers. Contact the centre on 0422-2669965 for registration.
