Stone laid for guest house

CHENNAI: The foundation stone for a guest house for the UGC-Academic Staff College at the University of Madras was laid by Vice Chancellor S. Ramachandran on Monday.
The construction, which has a budget of Rs.76.5 lakh, will be completed by December 2010.
The guest house, which will be able to accommodate 53 people, is meant for the college teachers from across the State who come to the Academic Staff College’s orientation and refresher training courses, and the resource people who train them. The Staff College has trained over 1,500 teachers over the last three years.
