CHENNAI: The State government is implementing a Youth Parliamentary Scheme, covering over 5,000 schools across 32 districts, Parithi Ellamvazhuthi, Information and Urban Development Minister, told a conference of State Ministers in-charge of Parliamentary Affairs in New Delhi on Monday. The scheme would be implemented in two or three phases. The training would be taken up in a cascade mode. A State-level team had been constituted to prepare and finalise materials on the process and functioning of Parliament and Assemblies, he said. On the number of Assembly sessions, Mr. Ellamvazhuthi said they were usually held three times a year. On an average, the House sat for 50 to 55 days.

The Minister informed the conference that Consultative Committees had not been formed in view of the work being coordinated between the Legislative Assembly Secretariat and the State Public Department.
