Easy for Simla Youngs

NEW DELHI: Simla Youngs defeated BEG (Kirkee) 3-1 in a qualifying round match of the Durand Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Wednesday.

Simla Youngs’ Manoj Kumar drew first blood in the injury time of the first half and the equaliser came from Bikash Ghosh in the 74th minute. However, Ebukwe Jude (82nd minute) and Ashok Kumar (90th) struck a goal apiece to help Simla Youngs win the match.

In another encounter, Amity United pipped Indian Navy through tie-breaker after both the sides failed to score in the regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Amity won 4-3. Bipelab, V. Kaira, Vikram and J.S. Saini found the target for the winning team while E.T. Satija, Ramesh Kumar and Suresh Babu scored for the Navy side.
