Idupulapaya (Kadapa Dt.): It was a sea of grief at the sprawling family estate from mourning relatives, friends and supporters from across the district, State and country at the last farewell to a ‘man of the masses’, with full State honours and a gun salute at 4.45 p.m. on Friday. Army jawans carried the coffin of Dr. Reddy in a cortege from the helipad to the burial spot. It was lowered into the grave after prayers by Christian priests. Earlier, the body of Dr. Reddy was brought here by an IAF helicopter. Several leaders and officials received it. Dr. Reddy’s wife Vijayalaxmi and son Jaganmohan Reddy wept inconsolably throughout the ceremonies and Jaganmohan Reddy was seen with folded hands throughout. Rosaiah mobbedA mad rush threw the arrangements out of gear. Chief Minister K. Rosaiah was mobbed in the melee and had to be escorted by former Minister K. Jana Reddy. As the crowd retreated after the burial, people were still trying to reach the spot from the opposite direction. About 15-20 km of stretch was jammed for several hours till late into the night.
