Ambika wins

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu’s Ambika Pande and Tushar Mandlekar of Chandigarh clinched the girls’ and boys’ under-14 titles in the Competitive Edge Wilson AITA (Talent Series) tennis tournament here on Friday.

The results:

Girls U-12 (final): Nupur Uma Shankar (Kar) Bt Nidhi Supraneni (Ap) 2-6, 7-6(2), 7-5; (semifinals): Nupur Uma Shankar bt B.S Suma Priyanga (TN) 6-2, 6-1; Nidhi Supraneni bt N. Ramya (TN) 7-6 (6), 6-4.

U-14 (final): Ambika Pande (TN) bt R. Binu (TN) 6-3, 7-6 (3); (semifinals): Ambika Pande bt Nupur Uma Shankar (Kar) 6-0, 6-0; R. Binu bt Nidhi Supraneni (AP) 6-2, 6-3.

Boys: U-12 (final): B.R Nikshep (Kar) Bt (Q) V. Jeevan (TN) 6-4, 6-2; (semifinals): B.R Nikshep bt Vikram Dhananjay (TN) 6-4, 6-2; V. Jeevan bt Arjun Ramakrishnan (TN) 6-4, 6-2.

U-14 (final): Tushar Mandlekar (Chan) bt Mohd. Fahad 6-2, 6-2; (semifinals): Tushar Mandlekar bt Nipun Bajaj (TN) 6-0, 6-1; Mohd. Fahad bt B.R Nikshep (Kar) 6-2, 6-0.
