Book on Kelucharan released

BHUBANESWAR: The fifth edition of Sangam - a confluence of dance, the annual dance festival being hosted in the City by city-based Italian Odissi dancer-choreographer Ileana Citaristi’s Art Vision cultural institution, was mounted at Rabindra Mandap here on Saturday coinciding with the Guru Divas celebrations.

Culture Minister D.P.Mishra inaugurated the event and released the Oriya translation of the biography of legendary Odissi Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra – The Making of a Guru – that was written in English by Ileana. Noted writer and former Orissa Sahitya Akademi president Ganeswar Mishra, who was also present on the dais, along with former Orissa Chief Secretary Subas Pani have translated the book into Oriya. Ileana, who decided to make Orissa her home 30 years ago for her love for Odissi, narrated how the book chronicles the life of her Guru and the growth of Odissi as well. The event is hosted on Guru Divas as a tribute to the gurus, she said.
