Judge moves High Court over promotion
New Delhi: Peeved at promotion of a “junior” colleague as District and Sessions judge, a Trial Court judge has knocked the doors of the Delhi High Court for remedial measures alleging that government norms on promotion have been compromised.
The High Court has appointed a committee, comprising its judges, to look into the representation of I S Mehta, Additional Sessions judge and in-charge of Dwarka Courts here. Mr. Justice Mehta, who belongs to SC/ST category, has challenged the elevation of G P Mittal as District and Sessions judge on the ground that Mr. Justice Mittal was junior to him.
