Dashrath, Varalaxmi clinch honours

HYDERABAD: Dashrath of AV College clocked 40:07.00 in the men’s 12km event and S. Varalaxmi of Kasturba College 23:19.00 in the women’s 5km race to clinch honours in the Osmania University inter-college cross country championship at Osmania University here on Sunday.

Prof. Parthasarathy, Principal, Saifabad PG College of Science, gave away the prizes.

The results:

Men: 12km: 1. Dashrath (AV College) 40:07.00, 2. Karthik (New Govt. College), 3. Narender (MVS College, Mahabubnagar).

Team event: 1. AV College, 2. Bhavan’s Vivekananda, 3. Avanthi.

Women: 5km: 1. S. Varalaxmi (Kasturba) 23:19.00, 2. Y. Tejashree (Indira Priyadarshini, Medak), 3. Shoba Rani (Kasturba).

Team event: 1. Kasturba College, 2. St. Ann’s College, 3. Bhavan’s Sainikpuri.

Inter-collegiate chess

Osmania University inter-collegiate chess championship for men will be held at Hindi Mahavidyalaya from September 8 to 10. The teams should report to Manohar Reddy, organising secretary, at the venue by 10. 00 am with the eligibility forms.
