MCD suspends principal, teacher and guard

Mustakeem was sleeping in the class and no one noticed him before closing the classroom

No case has been registered yet as the parents refused to file a police complaint

NEW DELHI: A Class II student of a primary school at Bijwasan in South-West Delhi run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was accidentally locked up for a night in his classroom on Wednesday allegedly by his teacher and attendant.

Though no case has been registered yet as the parents refused to file a police complaint, the civic agency has suspended the principal, the teacher and the security guard of the school and an enquiry has been initiated in the matter.

The parents of little Mustakeem Ahmad searched for him the whole night when he did not return home from school.

The boy cried and thumped the door repeatedly but no one came to his rescue. Hungry and tired, he eventually fell asleep.

Mustakeem was finally found in the classroom by his parents on Thursday around 7-30 a.m. when the school re-opened for the day.

The MCD spokesperson Deep Mathur said: “The child was sleeping in the class and no one noticed him before closing the classroom door for the day. The principal, the teacher and the security guard have been suspended with immediate effect. There has definitely been a lapse on the part of the school and we are investigating the matter further. An enquiry is being conducted and the report is expected on Wednesday.”
