CUDDALORE: Members of the Oasis Special Schools’ Teachers-Parents Federation, along with students with disability, staged a demonstration in front of the office of the District Disabled Rehabilitation Officer here on Monday. They were demanding the release of scholarship for special schools for the previous academic year (2008-09) and immediate distribution of national identity cards to the differently-abled. They voiced anguish over the ill treatment meted out to employees of the special schools by some officials. Allotted fundsThey pointed out that instead of utilising the allotted funds for the rehabilitation of persons with disability the department was arbitrarily surrendering the money to the government. Remedial measuresThey called upon the authorities to take suitable remedial measures. Those who participated in the demonstration included founder/correspondent of the schools K.V. Thavaraj, Federation president S. Renuka and project coordinator M. Kumudham.
