Negligence led to crash: Dattatreya

HYDERABAD: State BJP President Bandaru Dattatreya has criticised the official machinery for not making proper arrangements during the funeral of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that as a result Home Minister P.Sabitha Indra Reddy, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders could not attend the funeral. He expressed anguish that the late leader was not given 21-gun salute and said the crisis management team had failed.

He said that preliminary reports in the wake of the helicopter crash have indicated negligence in taking precautionary measures which needed to be taken for a high-ranking dignitary like the Chief Minister. Mr. Dattatreya and senior BJP leader Ch.Vidyasagar Rao said that a statue of tribal leader Komaram Bheem is ready to be unveiled on September 17, the Telangana Liberation Day, and urged the Government to install it on Necklace Road.
