Staff Correspondent

TUMKUR: K.B. Jayanna, founder-secretary of Vidyavahini Samsthe, which runs a number of educational institutions in Tumkur, has reportedly been “missing” since Wednesday morning.

As the news spread, his friends and relatives gathered at his residence in Vidyanagar here. Deputy Commissioner C. Somasekhara and Harsha P.S., Superintendent of Police, visited Mr. Jayanna’s family.

Mr. Jayanna, who left for a morning walk, had not returned, according to his family. His son-in-law, N.B. Pradeep Kumar and daughter Ms. Kumar, lodged a complaint with the police here stating that Mr. Jayanna was missing.

The police reportedly acquired Mr. Jayanna’s diary and a letter addressed to the SP. Dr. Harsha said action would be initiated based on certain clues available from the diary and the letter. Mr. Jayanna contested the last South East Teachers’ Constituency election to the Council on Janata Dal (Secular) ticket and lost to an independent candidate. Soft-spoken and social, Mr. Jayanna was actively involved in many cultural activities here.
