Benefits for fish workers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The first lot of benefits under the Fish Workers Debt Relief Act will be announced on Kerala formation day on November 1. Fisheries Minister S. Sarma told a meeting of representatives of fish workers’ trade unions convened here on Wednesday to explain the working of the Debt Relief Commission that the Commission had so far received 1,07,564 applications. Majority of them did not contain the details required and were not filled in the proper manner. He said 685 help desks would be set up. The help desks would function in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts from September 25 to 27 and in Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod from October 3 to 5.
