Single answer sheet proposed for Inter exam

NELLORE: The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) is planning to introduce single-answer-sheet system in the State from March 2010. The system is being introduced for two subjects on experimental basis in the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE).

Officials are proposing to launch the new system for Telugu and English languages. The invigilators will give a 24-page stapled answer sheet to each student and there will be no additional answer sheets. As there were earlier incidents of additional answer sheets getting separated from main answer sheets when torn, snapping of threads tied to additional sheets to the main sheet and possibility of resorting to irregularities, the officials are proposing the new system, said the Regional Inspection Officer (RIO) S. David.

If it is a success, the same would be implemented for other subjects, he said.

BIE is also proposing to introduce jumbling system in practical examinations for science students from the next year public examinations. To implement the jumbling system strictly instructions would be given to all private aided and unaided junior colleges to provide fully equipped labs.

The officials concerned will visit the colleges and check the labs, equipment and the faculty position being provided by the college management in the district, said the RIO. As the government is proposing to give 50 per cent weightage for intermediate marks for qualifying EAMCET from the next academic year, the practical marks allotted for the students will be important for achieving good percentage.

It was alleged that some college managements are not maintaining any labs and are resorting to malpractices by giving cent percent (full marks) to the students for scoring good marks in MPC and BiPC groups.
