NIO signs agreement

PANAJI: The National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, has signed a technology commercialisation agreement for the transfer of its Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology to VEA Automation and Robotics Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
The tenure of the agreement, signed last week, is five years.
The signatories to the agreement were V. Sanil Kumar, Scientist and Head, Business Development, NIO, and J. Ravi, Director, VEA.
The development of the AUV called MAYA was taken up by a team of scientists comprising Elgar Desa, R. Madhan, S. Prabhudesai, Pramod Maurya, Gajanan Navelkar, A. Mascarenhas, R.G. Prabhu Desai, Sanjeev Afzulpurkar, Nitin Dabolkar, S.N. Bandodkar, and a group of young project assistants in the Marine Instrumentation Division of NIO.
