Students brief farmers about organic agriculture

Expo held as part of rural agricultural work experience

Hands on: Agri expo organised by the students of Agricultural College and Research Institute of the TNAU, Madurai.
PUDUKOTTAI: The final year students of Agriculture College & Research Institute, Madurai organised an agri-oriented exhibition at the Government Higher Secondary School at Arimalam in the district recently.
The exhibition was arranged by the students as part of their rural agricultural work experience at Vaiyapuripatti near Arimalam.
The students had earlier conducted a demonstration on System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in Sengeerai village and organic agriculture and use of organic manures in the agricultural fields.
While visiting villages such as Mathagam, K. Pudupatti, Karamangalam, Ayyanarpatti, the students met the farmers and explained about soil testing.
Planned a meet
They have planned a farmers awareness meet on mushroom cultivation, vermi-composting and rain fed farming at Thenipatti shortly, a press release here said.
