Merchant’s house burgled

VIJAYAWADA: Miscreants gained entry into the house of an iron merchant at Bhavanipuram and decamped with gold jewellery and cash on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place between 1.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.

According to the One-Town police, Tiriveedhi Anjaneyulu, an iron trader from Bhavanipuram and a resident of Manava Mandiram Street, had lunch at home in the afternoon and returned to his shop around 1.30 p.m. As his family members were out of station, he locked the house and left for the shop.

In the evening, he went home and found the house burgled. He lodged a complaint with the police that gold jewellery weighing 340 grams and Rs. 15,000 cash were missing from the almirah.
