Kozhikode
Kozhikode: Kozhikode Khasi Sayyid Mohammed Koya Thangal has called on the Muslim faithful to impart to fellow human beings the message of universal brotherhood and social unity that are fundamental to the teachings of Islam. The Khasi said the Ramzan month instilled prayer, patience and renunciation in the faithful and it was an opportunity to attain spiritual and physical purity and blessings every year. He called on the people to respond with humaneness and kindness to those nations which used the path of violence, intolerance and totalitarianism to disrupt the lives of ordinary people and made them refugees in their own lands. He asked the faithful to pray for people in Palestine and other lands where Id had to be celebrated under the shadow of the gun. All-India Sunni Jamiathul-Ulma general secretary Kanthapuram A.P. Abubacker Musaliyar, in his annual message on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr, asked the faithful to utilise the sanctity achieved through sacrifice and renunciation during the holy month to recognise the pain and difficulties suffered by fellow human beings. He said the festival was an opportunity to realise the universal brotherhood that exists between all human beings. The devotion and dedication gained through the month of fasting instilled in the human mind peace and love for fellow creatures, he said. Stress on unityTerming the festival an opportunity to preserve the unity of the nation, he said it was the responsibility of the faithful to create an atmosphere of harmony and peace. Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, spiritual leader of Ahmadiyya Muslims, called on the community to say their ‘jumuah’ prayers without fail in his address to the global Ahmaddiya community from London on the occasion of Id. He said the faithful should throng mosques on every Friday, just like they do for the last ‘jumuah’ prayer during the Ramzan month.
