Welfare camps

Nagercoil: The special camps organised by the district administration in Thovalai, Agastheeswaram, Rajakkamangalam, Kurunthancode, Thuckalay, Thiruvattar, Killiyoor and Melpuram unions for the benefit of disabled persons evoked a very good response. More than 6,523 persons attended the camps from 29.7.09 to 14.9.09. Of those, 3,308 persons registered themselves with the welfare board and the district administration issued identity cards to them.

Collector Rajendra Ratinoo distributed various welfare assistance including maintenance grant to mentally ill persons, educational assistances, tri-cycles, wheelchairs, calipers, tri-cycles fitted with motor, artificial limps, individual loan under SGSY scheme, free bus passes and sewing machines to 6,523 beneficiaries.
