Letter to beneficiaries to be sent next week

Administration to act tough against corruption


SANGAREDDY: In an effort to set things straight in the Indiramma Housing scheme, the district administration has decided to get facts from the ground-level and also send a strong message that none would be spared if found involved in corruption.

District Collector L. Sashidhar would write letters to about 1.74 lakh beneficiaries of the three phases asking them to furnish details on how much amount and cement were released to them. Ignoring the department officers, the Collector would be roping special officers to get the feedback.

Dispatching of letters would commence in the next week.

According to sources, notices were issued to a tahsildar asking him to explain why he should not be suspended holding him responsible for the corruption that took place.

According to sources, the administration has also decided to act tough against those responsible for corruption in the housing scheme. The administration has decided to take action against a former mandal officer who worked at Kamkol village where bills to the tune of Rs.2.74 lakh was paid for old houses showing them as new. One assistant engineer was already suspended. One work inspector was removed from the service and it was decided to collect the amount misappropriated from him by enforcing Revenue Recovery Act.

Similarly, it was also decided to enforce criminal case and implement RR Act against an individual who acted as a middle man.
