MLA’s suspension may harm TRS
Staff Reporter
ADILABAD: Mancherial MLA G. Arvind Reddy’s suspension by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) high command on Sunday is likely to damage the party’s interests further in Adilabad district.
Poor image
The party’s image in the district is one of a beleaguered entity despite three of its candidates including Arvind Reddy winning their seats in the last elections.
Thanks to the success that the pink party achieved at Mancherial, Chennur (SC) and Sirpur constituencies, albeit with the help of Telugu Desam (TDP), it has a presence in these constituencies.
It now remains to be seen whether the Mancherial cadres of the TRS approve of the decision of the high command or rally behind Mr. Arvind Reddy. The suspension however, looks to have broken the unity the three MLAs
The cadres and leaders elsewhere in the district have expressed soreness at Mancherial MLA’s war of attrition with the party high command.
They point out that party president K. Chandrasekhara Rao had lobbied hard to get the seat allocated during the seat sharing talks.
Mr. Sammaiah said the Mancherial MLA ought not to have voiced his opposition publicly.
The suspension would not cause any erosion in the party’s base, he felt.
