‘Guru’s role vital’

BANGALORE: “A guru is crucial while learning any form of art as he imparts his knowledge to the disciple. The disciple grows while perfecting what is taught by the guru. All the success that I have received from the age of 13 is because of my teacher.” This was underscored by the Kathakali artiste Kalamandalam Raman Kutty Nair who was felicitated at an event that saw the inauguration of Mudra, an institute for Indian Classical Dances, in Bangalore on Sunday. Raman Kutty Nair, who was was given an award for lifetime achievement, credited his success to his guru, Pattikan Thodi Ravunni Menon. I.M. Vittal Murthy, Principal Secretary, Department of Youth Services, presented the award. — Staff Reporter
